Welcome to the WR Odell Elementary Library Media Center

Our mission is to inspire a love of learning, foster creativity, and empower our school community to become informed, ethical, and engaged global citizens.

We provide:

  • Access to Resources: A diverse collection of books, digital tools, and learning materials to support academic success and personal growth.
  • Innovation and Technology: Hands-on experiences with cutting-edge technology and collaborative spaces for exploration, creation, and problem-solving.
  • Support for Lifelong Learning: Programs and services that promote critical thinking, digital literacy, and ethical use of information.

At the heart of our school, the Library Media Center is a welcoming space where curiosity meets opportunity and every learner’s journey is celebrated. Explore, create, and connect with us!

HOURS:

The media center is open every day for open checkout from 7:05 am - 7:40 am. A student may come during these hours with a library pass to checkout books.

A student must get hand sanitizer before browsing the shelves for books and again after checking out books.

SPACE:

There are multiple spaces available in the media center: Checkout Area, Reading Area, and the Learning Area (where classes are held).

POLICIES:

1) Student ID's are required for checkout.

2) Two books may be checked out at one time, for a two-week period, and may be renewed once.

3)  If a student has overdue books, he/she will not be allowed to checkout new books.

4) Students are charged if a book is more than a month overdue or if the book is lost, so the library can purchase replacement copies.

ID's:

Students are issued one free ID while at Odell.  Replacement ID's cost $5.00 and can be purchased in the Media Center.

Links to Resources

  • The WR Odell Book Fair is an exciting event that brings the joy of books to our students while supporting our library programs. Parents, you can make shopping easy and cash-free by filling your child’s eWallet, a digital payment option that empowers students to shop independently while staying within budget.  We also need volunteers to help make this event a success! From setting up displays to assisting young readers in finding their next favorite book, your time and support make a big difference.

  •

Students can expand their access to library collections by linking their school accounts with the public library and its resources (specifically SORA or NC Kids Digital).

It enables students and teachers to seamlessly navigate learning resources. Students can access digital library collections by signing in to their student Clever account.
